Toyota Corolla Cross Performance Features

Performance Features

Whipping out nearly 170 gross horsepower, the iconic Dynamic Force engine propels the 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross. Coming from a rich heritage of acclaimed engineering, the four-cylinder engine develops slightly more than 150 pound-feet of torque. Having a meager output of 132 lb-ft of torque, the 2023 Hyundai Kona’s standard 2.0-L engine is no match for the Dynamic Force engine. This Hyundai model only gets 147 net hp from the default engine, which includes multi-point injection and the Atkinson cycle. However, high-end Kona trims grab 195 hp from a turbocharged engine that displaces roughly 1.6 L. Surprisingly, the 2023 Corolla Cross taps into 196 net hp from an exclusive hybrid powertrain. This all-new Toyota crossover SUV offers the segment-leading Electronic AWD system with efficient and adaptive mechanics for all-weather driving. A generic AWD with fewer capabilities is available for the 2023 Kona trim. Sacrificing efficiency for better acceleration, a dual-clutch gearbox is available on this sleek Hyundai model. By contrast, the Corolla Cross has the CVT-iS gearbox with more efficient shifting dynamics. This lightweight Toyota crossover SUV is also engineered to tow a maximum load of 1,500 gross pounds. Hyundai discourages drivers from towing a trailer with the slim Kona model.

Toyota Corolla Cross Interior Amenities

Interior Amenities

The 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross offers an incredible assortment of premium interior amenities, such as an auxiliary AC outlet in the cargo area. This three-prong socket has peak ratings of 120 V and 150 A per electrical standards in North America. Up to four USB-C ports are also available inside this all-new crossover SUV from Toyota. You’ll get a front USB port and dual rear USB ports in the 2023 Kona. Both vehicles allow you to recharge a smartphone on a wireless pad. When equipped with a heated 10-way driver’s seat, the Toyota model offers greater comfort than the Hyundai rival.

Toyota Corolla Cross Safety Features

Safety Features

Toyota deploys the TSS 3.0 technologies on the 2023 Corolla Cross. Therefore, you’ll enjoy some of the latest crash-mitigation systems from the iconic auto brand. For example, the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control kicks in when you travel faster than 20 mph. If you go faster than 30 mph, the Steering Assist will automatically come on. Thanks to the all-new Emergency Driving Stop System and Lane Tracing Assist, you’ll drive with much more confidence. Such thoughtful accident-prevention features aren’t readily available on the 2023 Kona. Nevertheless, this Hyundai crossover SUV still has several great active safety items from the SmartSense bundle. Perhaps the Highway Driving Assist is one of the top driver-assistance technologies on this vehicle. Both models have a camera system that records rear views with virtual overlays for guidance.
