Performance Features
Toyota equips the 2024 Toyota Highlander Limited and Platinum with a 2.4-L engine. This turbocharged powerplant earns a 265-horsepower rating based on SAE criteria. Capable of operating on the Atkinson cycle, the turbo engine produces 310 lb-ft of torque. This efficient engine works in concert with the Direct Shift-8AT system and Dynamic Torque Vectoring AWD system. Depending on the driving conditions and your mood, you could apply the Drive Mode Select settings. For example, the Snow Mode should be reserved for harsh weather during the winter. You should deploy the Eco Mode or Normal Mode for most trips. If you’re in a hurry on the highway, activate the Sport Mode. Both Toyota SUVs also have several off-road modes, such as the Rock & Dirt or Mud & Sand. Such custom settings are controlled by the Multi-Terrain Select. Both Highlanders trims have a maximum towing rating of 5,000 net pounds. The standard Trailer-Sway Control helps you tow in adverse weather conditions. Additionally, these versatile vehicles have the Downhill Assist Control for safer handling on steep slopes.
Technology Features
Delivering a highly interactive experience, the 12.3-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia is standard on the 2024 Highlander Limited and Platinum. This large infotainment console is your main hub for the Toyota Connected Services. If you download the Remote Connect app on your smartphone, you can remotely turn on the vehicle’s engine. This signature mobile app also unlocks the car’s doors. You’ll get an entire year of free Remote Connect access on each trim. Likewise, both SUVs come with a 12-month trial of the Drive Connect service. Connected to the AT&T 4G network, the Wi-Fi Connect plan comes with a 30-day trial. You won’t have to pay for the Safety Connect and Service Connect services for ten years. Additionally, both SUVs have 11 premium speakers from the JBL company.
Safety Features
The 2024 Toyota Highlander Limited and Platinum have several signature safety technologies that prevent crashes. Most accident-avoidance systems are part of the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ series. For instance, the Pre-Collision System proactively applies the brakes when there’s an elevated risk of an accident. Both Toyota SUVs have the Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. These premium family vehicles also have several parking aides, such as the Front and Rear Parking Assist, and a backup camera with colored projections. Standard on the Platinum, the Panoramic View Monitor provides even better visual cues. Toyota adds a total of eight airbags to each vehicle. Additionally, the standard TPMS precisely measures the gauge pressure of every tire in real-time.
