The SR5 taps into 317 lb-ft of torque at 1,700 RPM from the turbo powerhouse. This upgraded model harnesses up to 278 net hp from the four-cylinder engine. Both Toyota pickup trucks run on an eight-speed automatic transmission system. If you want to navigate steep terrains, use the gearbox’s Uphill/Downhill Shift function. Both models offer a 4WD system for better off-road traction. The complimentary transfer case provides high and low ranges for enhanced versatility. You can get a manual transmission system for more precise control over the SR model. Depending on the mechanical configuration, the base trim tows approximately 3,500 gross pounds. The SR5 trim has a maximum trailering capacity of 6,500 pounds. Both Tacoma editions are equipped with an independent front suspension system split into a double-wishbone layout. The base version has a conventional leaf spring on the rear suspension. Coil springs supplement the SR5’s multi-link rear suspension system.
