Toyota Tacoma Towing Capabilities

The all-new Toyota Tacoma is known to be a great mix of a luxurious interior and both on and off-road functionality. Currently, there are five different upgrade trims that you have to choose from when it comes to getting a new Toyota Tacoma. These include the SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, and Limited.

Toyota Tacoma SR

The Toyota Tacoma SR is available with both a 4-cylinder and a V6 engine. It comes with cab configurations of an access and double cab that come in different combinations of five- and six-foot beds. At the low end of towing capabilities, the 4-cylinder engine in all cab configurations has a maximum towing capability of 3,500 lbs. When you choose the V6 engine, the Tacoma SR access cab with a six-foot bed has a maximum towing capability of 6,800 lbs. Opting for a different cab configuration or bed size will reduce its towing capacity slightly.

Toyota Tacoma SR5

The Toyota Tacoma SR5 comes in five bed sizes and cab types combinations. This truck is offered in either the access or double cab and a five or six-foot bed. The 4-cylinder engine models have a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 lbs. When you upgrade to the V6 engine, you can get towing capabilities of between 6,400 and 6,800 lbs., depending on the cab configuration.

Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport

The Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport comes in eight different cab configurations. These include access and double cabs, five and six-foot beds, and even manual transmissions. All the TRD Sport models feature a direct injection V6 engine with towing capabilities between 6,400 and 6,800 lbs. Double cabs will reduce your towing capability by a couple hundred pounds compared to your access cabs.

Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road

The Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road has five different cab configurations, all standard with the 3.5L V6 direct injection engine. You can choose between a 5-ft bed and a 6-ft bed, even with a manual model. Towing capabilities range from 6,400 lbs. up to 6,700 lbs. You can enjoy the access cab in the 4×4 model or a double cab in the two-wheel and four-wheel drive models.

Toyota Tacoma Limited

The Toyota Tacoma Limited comes in three different types of bed configurations, all of which are double cabs. You can choose between a five and six-foot bed, all standard with a V6 Atkinson cycle engine offering 278 horsepower. Both 4×4 Tacoma Limited models will have a maximum towing capability of 6,400 lbs., while the two-wheel drive double cab option has a slightly higher towing capacity of 6,600 lbs.
